           FACTS & MYTHS

To lose weight, look better, and improve your health you just eat less and do cardio.-Myth, the weight you will lose will be fat and muscle. Losing muscle will have a negative affect on your metabolism, your energy levels, and impair your overall health. You will eventually gain the weight back but at higher body fat levels.

Participating in weight training will make you look "bulky" and you will gain weight.-Myth, lean muscle looks great and weight training burns alot of calories. Burning calories means burning fat! Eating excess calories is what makes you look bulky and gain weight.

To lose weight I can just stop eating carbohydrates.-Myth, there is a scientific law of thermodynamics and it explains weight loss. Every 3,500 calories equals 1lb of fat. In explanation, reducing caloric intake (eating better) and increasing caloric expenditures (exercising) is how we loss weight. Eliminating carbohydrates causes dehydration (quick weight loss) and when you start eating carbohydrates again your dehydrated (very unhealthy) body starts holding water again (quick weight gain), because water is necessary and essential for all physiological functions. Good carbohydrates are also high in fiber and are great for your heart and improved cholesterol levels. They are important for overall health and are key in performance.
